5 Things I love to do to destress!

As a college student I can say that I am stressed the majority of the time. Balancing your social life and academic life as well as everything in between and be very difficult. Of course I am not perfect and the things that I do to destress may not work for you but hopefully you can get some inspiration from this post.

  • One major thing that helps me from getting stressed out is staying organized! I have always been someone that loves to stay organized but, the older and busier I get I find it necessary. Every Sunday I will sit down and plan my whole week out that way I can look at my planner every night and be prepared for the next day. Throughout the week I will also make a daily "To do" list with everything that I need to complete. Whether that's simply wake and eat breakfast or complete an assignment I like to write every little thing down. I also find that it keeps me motivated because I am continually checking things off my list. I love planners so picking cute planners out is something that I really enjoy (lol does anyone else love planners or am I just a really big nerd?).

  • Sunday's are normally my self care day's. I try my best to make it a point every week to pick a day and relax and recharge as much as possible. To be honest, I really only do the bare minimum. I love doing facemasks, drinking a cup of tea, catching up on my TV shows and just relaxing. I like to say I sit down and read a book but lately I haven't been doing that at all and am trying to start again. Like I mentioned earlier about staying organized, I will plan out my week every Sunday no matter what. This is also the day that I will clean and make sure everything is in order for the upcoming week. I really love finding motivation to start the week off right on pinterest (which is linked and you can follow me:) ). Sounds super cheesy but the little things really do help me stay motivated.

  • Working out!! Yes, I don't always go to the gym and I'm not always motivated but, when I do go it is so worth it. Not only are there huge health benefits physically but also emotionally (for me at least). When I go to the gym I am strictly thinking about my workout, I get about an hour to focus on improving myself and getting in a good sweat! Without a doubt I never regret going to the gym after my workout. I also workout at home as well. You do not have to have a gym membership to workout, I think that is a huge misunderstanding people have. *Tip- Find what works best for you and what you enjoy! I personally love taking classes, specifically spin and hot yoga. However, you can do whatever you like (going for a walk, lifting weights, cardio, crossfit, etc.). Finding what types of exercises work best for you is so important and will make you keep coming back for more.

  • I LOVE listening to podcasts! (read my previous post to find out what my favorite podcasts are) My commute to class everyday is about 20 minutes so I will normally listen to a podcast there and back. If I am cleaning or picking up I will also turn on a podcast. Depending on which podcast I listen to I find them motivating or something just to take my mind off things.

  • I also like spending time with the people I love! Because I am busy a lot of the time any chance I get I will spend time with my friends and family. My sister is my best friend and I love hanging out with here. You don't have to do anything extravagant but, simply being around other people is sometimes all you need.

  • Lastly I enjoy watching youtube videos. My favorite ones to watch are "day in the life's". I find it super interesting to see how other people live their lives and also motivating. There are so many different kind of videos out there and anyone can find what their interested in. I would love to start a Youtube channel one day ;)
